French doors for Crowborough gardens
French doors are the garden door on most Crowborough houses built since the 1970s, and a common upgrade on older ones. Two doors open outwards onto the patio and close tight against the weather.

French doors prices
Per unit, supplied and fitted, including VAT, with the old frames removed and the opening made good. See all typical prices for worked examples.
| Window or door | Size basis (mm) | Fitted, inc. VAT |
|---|---|---|
| French doors, uPVC | 1500 x 2100 | £2,275 to £3,305 |
| French doors, aluminium | 1500 x 2100 | £3,555 to £6,065 |
Where they go
On the 1980s houses of the Blackness estate and the small detached houses between Harlequin Lane and Whitehill Road, French doors usually replace an old single back door or a window to the garden. On Beacon Hill, where gardens are larger, owners often want a wider pair with side panels to make the most of the view.
uPVC or aluminium
uPVC French doors cost £2,275 to £3,305 for a 1500 x 2100 mm opening. Aluminium French doors cost £3,555 to £6,065, with slimmer frames and a finish that does not fade.
If the opening has to be made wider, a new lintel and making good are priced after the survey.
Sliding and folding doors
Bifold and sliding patio doors are not offered through this site. If you are thinking about a larger opening on a Crowborough extension, the cost depends on the structural work, so send an enquiry and describe what you have in mind.
